EWS broken

$

Hi,

New install Exchange 2013 on a Server 2012 VM. A trusted UCC certificate is installed covering all domain names.

Outlook Web App is working as is Outlook Anywhere, apart from Out Of Office isn't working. Then I started having problems getting some Blackberry's working using BIS and outlook web access settings.

This has brought me to then testing the EWS url....which is broke.

Externally I get:-

The page cannot be displayed because an internal server error has occurred.

Internally:-

HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error

I've checked the authentication type and it's set as Integrated Windows, I've also tried Basic makes no difference.

The IIS virtual directories look ok, comparing with a working system.

Any Ideas?..

Thanks

Alex

Exchange 2013 'bugs'

Hello All,

I have been installing and playing around with Exchange 2013 Preview and have noticed a few bugs.

Environment:

1 DC/GC - Windows 2012 RC - Windows 2012 RC domain functional level

1 TMG 2010 - Windows 2008 R2

1 Exchange 2013 CAS server - Windows 2012 RC

2 Exchange 2013 Mailbox servers (for DAG Testing) - Windows 2012 RC

Emails are working fine (internal and external via TMG 2010). ECP and OWA works fine internally and externally through TMG 2010.

Bug 1.

When I logon to the Exchange Administrator Centre (EAC) - Recipients - Does not matter which user I click on, the details pane on the right hand side is always showing the the Administrator's details.

Bug 2.

When exporting the exchange server certificate via the EAC, everything is fine going through the process, however, when trying to import the exported certificate .pfx file at the a new location (in my case my TMG 2010 server)....the import process keeps throwing an error: Incorrect password. Before you ask, the password is correct. The import process I am using is via the Certificates - MMC. I suspect this is because during the export process via the EAC on the exchange server the password is only asked once and it does not ask to confirm. To go around this I have to use the Certificates via MMC to export the exchange server certificate on the TMG 2010 server and this works fine.

Bug 3.

Not sure if this is a bug or a config issue or both. Whilst creating and configuring a DAG, creating using THE domain Administrator account, so this has acccess to EVERYTHING:

error

A server-side database availability group administrative operation failed. Error The operation failed. CreateCluster errors may result from incorrectly configured static addresses. Error: An error occurred while attempting a cluster operation. Error: Cluster API '"CreateCluster() failed with 0x5. Error: Access is denied"' failed.. [Server: W2K12EX13MBX2.domain.com]
error

An Active Manager operation failed with a transient error. Please retry the operation. Error: The fully qualified domain name for node 'EX2013DAG' could not be found.

All the static IPs are correctly added and the DAG name was created sucessfully. Anyone in the exchange 2013 team able let me know what I am doing wrong or point me in the right direction? I have tried using the Powershell too but it throws the same error as above.

Bug 4.

After cleaning out the default database created by the install, the folder containing database and log files are deleted, all OK. For example: Mailbox Database 0500335717, the database is being removed from the EAC, the folder/files are deleted from the physical location i.e. C:\Program Files\Micosoft\ Exchange Server\V15\Mailbox\Mailbox Database 0500335717\. All these process goes through fine.

Now, I go ahead and create new databases with the appropriate name e.g. DB01 and DB02 etc. When I reboot the server, the original folder with the original database name gets recreated with the index catalogue only. The main question is why the orinigal database folder gets recreate with the index catalogue? It seems that the recreated database folder structure containing the index catalogue is referencing content indexes to the users in the newly created database? The newly created database folder do containing their own content index catalogues. Further testing seems that any database that gets deleted in EAC together with their folders in the physical location, after the Microsoft Exchange Search service is restarted, the deleted database folder is recreated with the Index catalogue. Potentially this is causing a disk space issue, not a big deal but the main problem is why do they get recreated, confused the hell out of me? Work as desdigned or bug? surely once they are deleted, they should stay deleted?

I will be test more in the next few weeks or so and report more issues/bugs.

Thanks.

If you need actual logs let me know...

Hello,

I installed exchange 2013 I cannot access the ECP or the Exchange management shell. I was just going to delete the mailbox databases and uninstall then just re-install it incase i missed anything.

Any idea? Anyone know how to force the uninstall, right now i can't use the uninstall feature because when it runs its checks it indicates there is a mailbox database installed.

It's technically on a production server - not that it hosts much of anything right now. However exchange is not in production. So i'd rather not completely wipe the server and start over - seems kind of unnecessary anyways.

Would like to just get this working with how its installed as i followed all the pre-req guides and it installed properly with no issues. Prob. just something small i'm overlooking.

Exchange 2013 - The Client Access Role is already installed on this computer

Installed Exchange server 2013 the first time and everything worked for about 2 weeks then I encountered errors with the services (iis) after days and hours of trying to resolve without success I undertook the process of re-installing EX2k13 however during the installation (PS) I encountered the error message "Exchange 2013 - The Client Access Role is already installed on this computer" but I continued with the pre-install\AD prep now I'm at the GUI stage and during the readiness stage (Prerequisite Analysis) I get message below. when I click the link there's nothing.

In order to re-install I just removed the computer from AD\computers, DNS and DHCP and used the same VM just a clean install of Server 2012, etc

How do I remove the CA role and then continue with the setup? everything else is just fine

system setup: all server 2012. All Server Vm's are WS2012

After install emails are stuck in the draft folder

Hi All,

I have Exchange 2013 running on Server 2008 R2 SP1 which is a DC as well.

Everything seems to work OK, but when I send emails they are stuck in the draft folder.

I disable back pressure and all services are running.

Any idea what could be the problem ?

Cannot receive mail

Server 2012 with Exchange 2013 Preview.
Installation was ok.

When using ECP to configure, the browser (running on Windows 8 Enterprise x64) crashes more than often,
however I was able to configure Accepted Domains, Email Address Policies, Send Connectors and Recipients
(I left Receive Connectors untouched because the default ones look ok to me).
NAT'ed my router and should be ready to receive, but not.
Mail is re-sent to Hotmail (Outlook.com) because an extra MX Record on DNS and goes just fine to Hotmail.
I try sniffing the packages to/from Exchange server, also tried the Toolbox "Remote Connectivity Analyzer", these show:
"The server returned status code 451 - Error in Processing. The server response was: 4.7.0 Temporary server error. Please try again later. PRX2..."
Is more detailed error message documentation available ?

The Tool: "Tracking Log Explorer" crashes consistently when pushing "NeXT" at "Message Tracking Parameters", hoped that this could give me a Clue.

Additional info: The server is not licensed because I do not find Product code anywhere, could this be the problem ?

Of course bugs are acceptable on a preview Version like this, but I have a feeling that the not-received mail problem tells more about my lack of knowledge...

2010 had a setting i Hub Transport called Remote Domains, what is the equivalence in 2013 ?

Anyone can help me With my problems ?

EDIT: Tried to send e-mail by telnet, all ok until commit subject/body with <CRLF>.<CRLF> then same thing happened, exact Message:

451 4.7.0 Temporary server error. Please try again later. PRX2

Two exchange CAS servers having loopback adapters with same MAC

$

Hi

I have come across a configuration where there are two Exchange 2007 CAS servers set up (apparently acting as a load balancing configuration) and both of them have two network adapters one of which is a loopback adapter.

Both servers have the same IP address set up on the loopback adapter and the loopback adapters on both servers have the same MAC address.

Client Access FQDNs (mail.client.org.uk) point to the IP address that exists on both servers on the loopback adapter.

I'm not completely sure what kind of load balancing configuration this is and how the loopback adapter is reachable from the LAN as it does respond to ping and client requests using OWA, Outlook etc.

Thanks
Nauman.

Exchange 2013: DNS Problem? No mail Flow At All!

Please excuse me if I have asked in the incorrect Forum.

I have given below as much concise information as I can but do please ask if any more information is required.

Hosting: Go daddy

Well I must admit I am pulling my hair out with this one.I have been using SBS2011STD and decided for training purposes to wipe the server and install the following:

Server 2012 setup as a DC with Hyper-V.

Server 2012 with Exchange 2013 as VM and joined to the domain.

Installation all OK no errors.

As you would appreciate SBS2011STD sets up as required thenecessarysettings via DNS manager at Go daddy automatically and worked fine although I had to allow SMTP etc. within the Netgear wireless router as this would not setup via SBS2011STD.I more or less just changed the setting that SBS2011STD setup via the DNS manager at go daddy. It put remote. in front of the setting like remote.mydomian.eu. I have not followed that path as I though it something that was just a configuration that SBS2011STD required!

I just cannot get mail flow at all. It points to a DNS problem or configuration it would seem?Mydomain.com as an example.

Go Daddy DNS:

A (Host) @ IP is pointing to the public IP of my router. (IP is a business IP and is not blacklisted.)

CName (Alias) None

MX (Mail Exchanger) 10 @ Exchange.mydomain.eu (name of exchange server)

TXT (Text) @ v=spf1 a mx ~all

SRV (Service) _autodiscover _tcp @ 0 0 443 mydomain.eu

AAAA (IPv6 Host) None

NS (Nameserver @ (informational) ns11.domaincontrol.com\ns12.domiancontrol.com

Test with www.testexchangeconnectivity.com (Remote Connectivity Analyser)

Internet E-mail tests.

Outbound:            All Green Ticks (although no mail is received if I send within my domain)

Inbound:

Testing inbound SMTP mail flow for domain paul@mydomain.eu.

ExRCA failed to test inbound SMTP mail flow.

Test Steps

Attempting to retrieve DNS MX records for domain mydonain.eu.

One or more MX records were successfully retrieved from DNS.

Additional Details

MX Records Host Exchange.pauledwards.eu, Preference 10

Testing Mail Exchanger exchange.mydomain.eu.

One or more SMTP tests failed for this Mail Exchanger.

Test Steps

Attempting to resolve the host name Exchange.mydomain.eu in DNS.

The host name couldn't be resolved.

Tell me more about this issue and how to resolve it

Additional Details

Host exchange.mydomain.eu couldn't be resolved in DNS InfoDomainNonexistent.

Exchange Connectors: Receive Connectors as default (I believe Microsoft say this is OK to be left as is)?

Send Connector as SMTP * (as recommended by Microsoft)

DNS on DC:           Mail Exchanger (MX) Domain FQDN: mydomain.eu.

Mail Server FQDN: Exchange.mydomain.eu

Priority 10

                      Host (A) Exchange.mydomain.eu IP: 192.168.0.4

I am sure it’s something stupid or incorrect I have done but if anyone is willing to help I can send snapshot of settings direct to your e-mail if you advise.Any help MUCH appreciated.
